Two steal auto, rob passengers

BANGALORE: Two men on Tuesday night stole an autorickshaw from Peenya police station limits and later robbed a person, who boarded the vehicle, of Rs. 2,500 in cash and a mobile phone.

The police said that around 9 p.m., two men hired Harish's autorickshaw at Bagalagunte to go to T. Dasarahalli.

After travelling some distance, Mr. Harish stopped the autorickshaw and went to a public call office to call his residence. When he returned, he found that the two men had made away with the vehicle.

Later, the two picked a passenger, Ramesh, at T. Dasarahalli to drop him at Nelagadarenahalli. On reaching a secluded area, they threatened Ramesh, robbed him of Rs. 2,500 in cash and a mobile phone and sped away in the autorickshaw.

The Peenya police have registered separate cases.

Robbed

An autorickshaw driver and his two accomplices robbed a private company employee of Rs. 1,000 in cash and a mobile phone in Ulsoor police station limits on Tuesday night.

The police said that while Shahjahan of Benson Town was travelling by an autorickshaw, the driver picked two persons on the way. On reaching Kensington Road, the driver and his two accomplices robbed Shahjahan of the cash and the phone. The Ulsoor police have registered a case.

Houses burgled

Burglars struck at two houses in Tilaknagar and Basaveshwaranagar police station limits on Tuesday and made away with Rs. 10,000 in cash and gold ornaments estimated at Rs. 2.30 lakh. The police said the thieves looted gold jewellery estimated at Rs. 1.30 lakh from Nazeer Ahmed's house in SRK Garden.

In the other incident, thieves entered software engineer Diwakar's house in Mahaganapathinagar near Basaveshwarnagar and stole Rs. 10,000 and jewellery estimated at Rs. 1 lakh.
