JAIPUR: The Desert Corps Provost Unit celebrated the 67th anniversary of the Corps of Military Police (CMP) in Jodhpur on Wednesday, applauding the determination and dedication of the corps in its operational duties. The CMP has won the Provost Marshal Trophy this year. A defence spokesperson said in Jodhpur that the corps had secured first position among the field formation provost units and overall second position in the Provost Marshal Trophy last year. The CMP is responsible for maintenance of discipline and high state of morale within the Army, besides traffic control duties, in times of operations as well as peacetime. The corps is also referred to as "Shwet Ashwa'' (White Horse) in the Army fraternity. The Commanding Officer of the unit, Colonel Anirudh Singh Sewar, addressing a special Sainik Sammelan on the occasion exhorted the ranks to continue to strive for excellence in all spheres and assist all Army formations as per the charter and ethos of the CMP. He also called upon the soldiers to maintain utmost vigilance in the performance of their duty in view of the terrorist threats.
