Metro to increase frequency on Diwali day
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI:
Delhi Metro will stop its operations at 8 p.m. on Diwali this Saturday. However, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has decided to increase the frequency of trains on that day to meet the rush of passengers.
Stating that the Delhi Metro rider-ship had gone up by over 25,000 per day during the past three days, a DMRC spokesperson said on Thursday that on Diwali the operations would begin at 6 in the morning and end at 8 p.m. as against 10 p.m. on normal days.
"But on Saturday we will run our trains at peak frequency, with trains running at a gap of every four to five minutes throughout the day to meet the festival rush. As a result, we will have an additional 110 trips that day ," he added.
