Noiseless festival

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Deepavali and firecrackers go together for most people. Unmindful of the resultant noise and air pollution, they spend thous-ands of rupees on firecrackers.

But there are some who want to celebrate this festival differently.

Over 2,000 students of Krupanidhi College have taken a pledge to celebrate the festival without bursting firecrackers. Guided by their chairman Suresh Nagpal, these students have vowed to contribute the amount they would have spent on firecr-ackers, for the education of poor children.
