ANANTAPUR: The general hospital attached to the Government Medical College here has sent a report to the State Government on the primary health check-up conducted on children with heart-related ailments. It has recommended surgery for 210 children from poor families. Medical camps for initial health check-up of the children with heart diseases were held at Anantapur, Hindupur, Tadipatri and Kalyadurg in September and October on the directions of the Government. In all, 326 children reported at the camps.
Primary investigations
Primary investigations like 2D echo test, ultrasound scanning were conducted on the children. Based on the test reports, it was found that 210 among them were in need of surgery. All the children were issued identity cards and their details including addresses were computerised. The general hospital has also put up the addresses of children needing surgery in the Government website-aponline. Surgery on the 210 needy children would be performed in SVIMS at Tirupati, in NIMS, Care, Gandhi, Apollo and MediCiti at Hyderabad and in Narayana Hrudayalaya at Bangalore after a second check-up in the hospitals concerned. The State Government has taken total responsibility for the treatment of heart ailments of these children including the necessary correspondence.
