BANGALORE: More than two lakh candidates are appearing for the written test to select over 4,200 police constables (civil, women and armed police) scheduled for October 29.

Among them, 80,000 have applied for 2,200 posts in Bangalore city alone and majority of them are from outside Bangalore, according to Additional Director-General of Police (Training and Recruitment) D.V. Guruprasad. The test would be conducted in 100 centres in Bangalore apart from designated centres in other districts. As the test (for civil and women constables) is scheduled in the morning, it would be better for candidates coming from other places to come a day in advance to Bangalore and locate their test centre and seats. If they come on the day of the test, the candidates might find it difficult to locate the centre, he said.

Mr. Guruprasad told The Hindu that the written test (POL-CET) comprises 125 objective-type questions instead of 100 questions that were in the earlier tests. He said the questions would be on Indian Constitution, Indian History, Indian Geography, facts on Karnataka, Science (SSLC level), a little bit of reasoning and current affairs.

Candidates should mark the answers on an OMR sheet and the score would be known by the evening, Mr. Guruprasad said. They will have to write only their roll number and not their name on the answer sheet. He said hall tickets had despatched to eligible candidates and those who did not get the same could enquire at the offices of the Superintendents of Police or the Commissioners of Police concerned.
