Five held in double murder case

Staff Correspondent

BELLARY: The Gandhinagar police have arrested all the five persons allegedly involved in the double murder case that occurred recently in Satyanarayanpet locality in the city.

Two women were brutally murdered and another person, Gavisiddappa, a moneylender, was grievously injured when five persons attacked them with lethal weapons at the victim's house.

Subash, who runs a sweet stall in the small market area, was arrested within 24 hours after the incident while his accomplices were nabbed in the past 48 hours, the police said.

According to the police, all the accused admitted that they planned to loot gold and cash belonging to Gavisiddappa. On October 16, they went to his house on the pretext of taking back the pledged jewellery and take away cash and valuables kept in the cupboard. But their plan failed when Nagesh, son of Gavisiddappa, ran out of the house, when they started attacking and raised an alarm.

But the gang allegedly assaulted Gavisiddappa, his wife Lakshmidevamma and Lakshmi (daughter-in-law).
