S.R. Ashok Kumar
Nayantara
CHENNAI: For at least four persons in Tamil cinema, this Deepavali will probably be one of their most memorable ones. While Sarath Kumar can rejoice over `Thalaimagan,' his 100th film as an actor and first as director; and Silambarasan over acting and directing `Vallavan'; Nayantara should be happy about the release of three of her movies on the Deepavali day; and music director Srikanth Deva about scoring music in three of the eight movies to be released on the occasion. Nayantara, of course, seems the happiest of the four. She is starring in `Thalaimagan' (with Sarath), `E' (with Jeeva) and `Vallavan' (with Simbu). The star said, "It (the three releases) just happened... It was not planned that way. But, I am happy because the films show a variety of roles." "As both Sarath and Simbu themselves directed their movies, they took great care in carving out my character. In `E', I play a glamorous and meaty role," she says. Srikanth Deva, who has scored the music for `E', `Thalaimagan' and `Dharmapuri' (starring Vijayakant), said, "All the three are different kinds of films demanding new types of scores. `Dharamapuri' has a lot of folk stuff. `E' will have modern and global music. "For the first time K.J. Yesudas has sung for me in this movie. It also has a `gana' song. "Thalaimagan is different. Paul J. and I have composed music for two songs each. My uncles, Sabesh and Murali, helped me during re-recording. "For me this is one of the best Deepavalis," he adds.
