Bidar: It is not just the responsibility of the Government to take care of the dependents of police personnel killed while on duty. Society should treat them with love and compassion. "We should be grateful to them and honour their sacrifice", said Additional District and sessions judge Karanappa Rastapure here on Saturday. Mr. Rastapure was speaking at the Police Commemoration Day celebrations at the Police Parade grounds. He called upon the society to treat the dependents of slain police personnel with love and compassion. Earlier, he received the guard of honour from the district police. He laid a wreath at police memorial. The police fired three rounds in the air in honour of their departed colleagues. Superintendent of Police Roopa Divakar read out names of 751 police officers and staff killed on duty. Eminent citizens such as Shivasharanappa Wali, Qaisar Rehman, Babu Wali, Shaheen Patel, and Shamanna Bavuge were present.
