AHMEDABAD: Brian Lara, laid low by a severe bout of back spasm in the course of his wonderful innings of 71 against Australia at the CCI in Mumbai, is likely to be fit for the match against India on Thursday.

In the absence of Lara, Ramnaresh Sarwan led the team in the second half of the West Indies-Australia match.

According to a team spokesman, Lara is responding to treatment and will bat at the nets on Monday.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who did not play in the match against Australia because of dehydration due to food poisoning, has recovered and Corey Collymore, who rushed home to be with his wife for the birth of their child, will be joining the team before the West Indies's match against India. — Special Correspondent
