KOLLAM: In protest against the `unbearable hike in prices', the District Congress Committee is organising dharnas at all the 88 mandalam units of the party in the district on October 27. In a statement here DCC president Sooranad Rajashekaran said that within five months of Left Democratic Front (LDF) rule, the State was reeling under a price rise of even essential commodities. The Government is unable to control the price rise. This has resulted in the Civil Supplies Department too joining the category of the Home and Health departments already labelled as inefficient under the LDF rule. If the prime aim of the Civil Supplies Department was to keep prices under control, under the LDF rule, the department appeared to be promoting price rise. The price list of commodities at the outlets of the Civil Supplies Department only proved it, he said.
