HYDERABAD: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has alleged that the Congress leadership was pumping in "crores of rupees" to wean away his party activists ahead of byelection to Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency. This was done out of frustration after his tour to Karimnagar in the last three days drew good response from public, Mr. Rao said at a press conference when asked about TRS leader S. Bhaskara Reddy joining Congress in the presence of Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. He announced expulsion of S. Bhaskara Reddy, who joined Congress, and former Warangal district president, Kolla Janaradhan. Mr. Rao alleged that a senior official in the Chief Minister's Office had contacted former Warangal TRS president, Kolla Janardhan, and tried to persuade him to switch sides. The move had flopped but Mr. Bhaskar Reddy yielded to temptations, he alleged. Mr. Rao added that TRS supporters were passing resolutions pledging votes to him. Such resolutions were adopted in 30 villages in Karimnagar. He said the party workers would participate in a 600 km motorcycle rally in the constituency from October 26 to 28. It would be followed by a `bandh' in Telangana on November 1 to protest against the State Formation Day celebrations.
More `dhoom dham'
Artistes of `Telangana dhoom dham' who recently staged a successful performance in Karimnagar would take up similar programmes at Sircilla and Jagtial. Mr. Rao announced meetings in all the segments of Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency from November 6 to 18. A dharna before the residence of Home Minister, K. Jana Reddy, was proposed if the Government did not repatriate next week police officers identified under GO 610.
