Free mock aptitude test for students

It will assess students' aptitude as per industry standards

CHENNAI: It seems an unequal battle. Software giants and MNCs, on the one side, are offering huge job opportunities.

On the other side, 85 per cent of students who undergo gruelling recruitment tests are failing. This is a big worry for affected students, college managements, human resources persons and most importantly, parents.

Productivity Reach, an organisation involved in working with leading engineering colleges in the Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore zones in recruiting and training engineering students has designed a free mock programme in aptitude assessment.

According to Ramesh Narayan, Chief of Productivity Reach, a similar mock test, held in October 2005, helped a number of freshers get placed in the recruitment drives of Caritor, Patni Computers, Cognizant, Wipro and Infosys.

Reason for failure

Noting that only 15 out of 100 students taking the tests were being taken on board, he said students were not updating themselves with the changing aptitude assessment practices of MNCs "which is one reason for the failure." Students also seemed to lack the art of tactful answering during the HR round, he said.

" It is very crucial and mandatory for the final year students and freshers to get a job before February / March 2007," he said.

The 30-minute mock test that will assess the students' aptitude as per industry standards is being held at 24/116, Abhiramapuram IV Street, Chennai-18 on October 24 and 25.

It will focus on the quantitative, analytical reasoning, puzzles and English Verbal abilities.
