Grants sought for aided, private schools

Staff Correspondent

MANGALORE: The decision of the authorities concerned to release grants to government schools alone to organise various competitions as part of the Suvarna Karnataka celebrations will deprive students of government-aided and private schools of a chance to participate in the competitions, J. Krishna Palemar, Suratkal MLA, has said.

The Government should provide grants to these institutions as well to organise competitions, he has said.

Responding to a letter by the MLA, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Basavaraj Horatti has promised

Mr. Palemar that he will consider his request and allow students from all institutions to participate in the events.

The Minister has directed the principal secretary in-charge of the department to go through his request and take action, Mr. Palemar has said.
