MANGALORE: Personnel of the Mulki Police Station under the guidance of Circle Police Inspector, Mulki, H.N. Venkatesh Prasanna, intercepted a vehicle on the road leading to Kolnad Industrial Area near Padupanambur and detected a case of illegal transportation of sandalwood. A press release from B. Dayananda, Superintendent of Police, here on Sunday said the vehicle was intercepted based on definite information of it being used for the purpose. Police recovered 89 kg of sandalwood, which was stashed in a compartment beneath the rear passenger seat. Police have arrested P.K. Ismail (28) and Mohammad Ansaf (20) of Pathuru in Kasargod and Abdul Rakeeb (26) of Bandadka, also in Kasargod and have recovered two mobile phones and Rs. 6,010 from them. The accused were reportedly transporting the sandalwood to Goa.
