Poor hygiene

There is vacant area by the side of `Krupa deep row houses', opposite municipal water tank in Street No.4 of M.J. Colony, Moulali with a pool of dirty stagnant water. This serves as breeding space for mosquitoes. Buffaloes cool themselves in the pool, which is in the midst of residential area and needs to be cleared without delay.

Tatkal reservation

As rightly stated ( The Hindu , October 8), the very purpose of Tatkal type reservation is lost by advancing the service with no additions. Why is the scheme not made applicable to senior citizens, with 30 per cent concession. Equally amusing is the fact that there is no benefit to passengers who get down in between. They have to pay full fare when they do not travel till the end. What sort of concession is this?

Will Afzal repent?

After reading many letters in this column regarding Mohammad Afzal, I am compelled to write this letter.

To forgive a person, genuine repentance is a pre-condition.

Then only God will intervene and save. It is therefore necessary that he and his associate should repent so that there will be peace in the country. The execution may be postponed for a reasonable time so that correct decision will be taken in the meanwhile.

Concessions

Senior citizens get a 30 per cent concession in both air and train fares to travel anywhere in India.

I request the APSRTC also to be considerate and extend this facility to senior citizens at least in their district services (including hi-tech and garuda).
