CPI(M): review cases of all detenus

`Release those not involved in heinous crimes as a goodwill gesture'

Srinagar: Expressing displeasure at the Union Government's decision to release only 12 prisoners on the eve of Id-ul-Fitr, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Sunday urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to fulfil his commitment to review the cases of all detenus and release those not involved in serious crimes.

"The Government should immediately review cases of detenus and order the release of those not involved in heinous crimes on the eve of Eid as a goodwill gesture," MLA and State CPI (M) secretary M.Y. Tarigami said in a statement here. — PTI
