Alleged gangsters arrested

NEW DELHI: Two alleged gangsters, including a Law graduate, have been arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi police. One of them was wanted by the Uttar Pradesh police in several cases of murder, attempt to murder and kidnapping.

According to the police, the accused were arrested following a brief exchange of fire at Sarai Kale Khan in South Delhi on October 20 afternoon.

The police have recovered a US-made pistol, a country-made revolver and live cartridges from the accused who have been identified as Dharmender Sirohi and Arun Kumar Sharma.

The police said the accused were trying to expand their base in the Capital.

During interrogation, Dharmender allegedly disclosed that he was a law graduate from NAS College Meerut in 1996.

He started private practice in the courts of Meerut and Bulandshahr. In 1999, he was also selected as a public prosecutor in a Chandigarh court.

However, due to his criminal background he was not allowed to take up that assignment. He was wanted in five murder cases, including one of kidnapping and murder.

Mercury dips to its lowest in October

NEW DELHI: Delhi witnessed its lowest temperature of the month, with the mercury dipping to a minimum of 20 degree Celsius following light rains in several parts of the city.

The weatherman has predicted a partly cloudy sky with light rains in some parts of the city on Monday with the temperature falling further.

The weather office said that the daytime temperatures on Sunday hovered between 25-27.6 degrees Celsius.

Parts of the city received traces of light rainfall during the day and the city saw the mercury dip to a minimum of 20 degrees Celsius, which was nearly three degrees lower than what was recorded on Saturday.
