Bangalore: Artistes from theatre groups took out a roadshow here on Sunday to promote the works of eminent Kannada playwrights to a non-Kannada speaking audience.

The roadshow was a prelude to the "Kannada Rangabhoomi-Namaskara," a festival of plays in English from October 24 to 29 at Ravindra Kalakshetra.

Six groups

The six groups — ART, BLT, Top Cast, Vedike, Version One Dot Oh! and Voices — started the roadshow from Ravindra Kalakshetra and covered Cubbon Park, Ambedkar Road, Raj Bhavan Road, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Richmond Road, Double Road and Jayanagar before culminating at Koramangala.

The festival will open with ART's production of Girish Karnad's first play "Yayati," which was written in 1961.

The play is directed by Arundhati Raja and the set design is by M.S. Sathyu.

The other plays that will be staged at the festival are "Tangigondu Gandu Kodi," "Smashaana Kurukshetra," "Kattale Belaku," "Mahamayi"and "Nammolagobba Naajukayya."
