Three hurt in clash

Staff Correspondent

BIJAPUR: Tension prevailed in Sindagi town on Sunday following a clash between two groups, which left three injured.

Trouble began around 6.30 p.m. when a Dalit woman entered into an altercation with the shopkeeper of a mutton shop near Tippu Circle, over bill payment. She claimed that she had given a Rs.100 note, but the shopkeeper argued she had given him a Rs. 50 note. Finally the shopkeeper's version stood.

Later, her relatives and some youths from the Dalit Colony went to the shop and allegedly assaulted the shopkeeper Saddam and two others. The shopkeeper's supporters tried to advance towards the colony. Timely intervention by the police averted a major clash.
