dated October 25, 1956: Algerian leaders held

The French Cabinet met in a special session in Paris on October 23 and discussed the situation created by France's capture of five top leaders of the Algerian insurrection. Relations between France and her two former protectorates of Morocco and Tunisia, now independent States, are in a ferment after the French coup in intercepting an airliner on its way from Rabat to Tunis with the Algerians and ordering it down at Algiers. On board was Ahmed Ben Bella, the mastermind behind the two-year-old Algerian insurrection.
