FAVOURITE SPOT: A view of the Kozhikode beach.
The Kozhikode beach is a favourite spot for tourists as well as city dwellers. It is, perhaps, one of the two entertainment spots available for people here. But the beach is now turning into a dangerous spot. More than a dozen people were struck by lightning in the heavy rain that lashed the city on Monday evening. The injured had taken shelter in a shed near the beach. This points to the lack of facilities on the beach. There are very few shelters from rain. A few shelters from lightning are also needed on the beach. There is a lightning conductor on top of the All India Radio building, which, perhaps, can save only the building. Incidents such as the one on Monday must be an eye opener.
