Saudi Arabia has its first practice

Bangalore: The Saudi Arabian football team had its first practise session at the Bangalore Football Stadium here on Tuesday. The team will compete in Group D of the Asian Youth under-20 football championship commencing at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on October 29. Former champion Saudi Arabia will compete with Iraq, Malaysia and Vietnam in Group D.

The team's coach Gilson Nunes said: "We have been preparing for the last one and a half years and this team is growing. You should understand that in this age-group, the players are still kids and they will become mature with exposure and that you get by playing international matches.

"We believe that every team in this tournament deserves respect and we will not take them lightly. Our players are all fit and we want to do well. As for the practice ground here, it is not so nice but it is okay. I haven't yet been to the main venue but I believe that the federation is doing the best they can."
