Monsoon active over Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Northeast monsoon has been active over Tamil Nadu.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Kerala and Lakshadweep, at many places over Tamil Nadu.

Isolated rainfall occurred over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and south interior Karnataka. Dry weather prevailed over Telangana, coastal and north interior Karnataka.

The following stations recorded heavy rainfall in centimetres:

Pamban 10, Namakkal 9, Chengalpattu (Kanchipuram dt) 8.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimeters are:

Sholinghur (Vellore dt) 6, Villupuram, Mayiladuthurai (Nagapattinam dt) 5 each.

Forecast (valid until Thursday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala and Lakshadweep and at a few places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and south interior Karnataka. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and coastal Karnataka. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Telangana and north interior Karnataka.
