NEW DELHI: Against the tender for import of wheat for 55 lakh tonnes for the public distribution system, 20.15 lakh tonnes will reach India by mid November. Five vessels are discharging wheat in the Mumbai, Chennai, Visakhapatnam, Kandla and Mundhra ports. Of the consignment of 2.22 lakh tonnes aboard these vessels, 1.0 lakh tonnes was discharged by October 19, says a Food Ministry release. Four vessels with 1.98 lakh tonnes at the Mundra, Kandla and Visakhapatnam are under fumigation/quality check/berthing. Ten vessels which set sail with 5.52 lakh tonnes are scheduled to arrive at the Indian ports by November 15.
