Treat Islamabad as equal, says Musharraf

Expresses satisfaction over talks on the dispute over Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf is satisfied with the peace process with India but wants New Delhi to treat Islamabad as an equal.

"I respect the Indian Prime Minister but it is regrettable that India wants to keep its domination in the region and wants Pakistan to be a weaker force. India should come out of its phobia of being a greater nation and should talk to us at an equal level," General Musharraf said in his fourth TV interview over the last one week.

Before making comments on Pakistan's internal situation, India must set its own house in order, he said. There were 21 separatist movements in India, and none in Pakistan. But he expressed satisfaction over talks on the Kashmir dispute. He said progress was being made and the talks were proceeding on the right path.
