Bhopal: Accusing the Centre of ignoring people's issues raised by Left Parties, the CPI (M) on Tuesday warned that it does not promise indefinite support to UPA and will give a ``jolt'' by withdrawing it when need arises. ``The (Union) Government has not been giving due importance to our suggestions. That is why we have chosen to initiate public campaigns against Centre's wrong economic policies,'' CPI (M) polit bureau member M K Pandhe, who was here to attend a two-day state party committee meeting from Wednesday, said at a press conference. ``When we move the public against wrong economic steps, the Centre can't ignore us, or it will have to face the ill effects,'' he said. Accusing UPA of allowing prices of essential commodities to soar and attack on labour rights, Mr. Pandhe said ``we don't promise to extend indefinite support to the Congress. When need arises we will give it a jolt.'' However, the party will decide on when and how the support has to be withdrawn, he said, adding it was extended in view of the promises made in the common minimum programme. Alleging that the Centre had ``somehow managed'' to keep under control the price index instead of actually bringing down the prices of commodities, the senior CPI-M leader said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had promised to constitute an `Index Review Committee' around two months ago, but no action was taken in this regard. ``We have again written to the Prime Minister reminding him of his statement and have demanded probe into the manner in which the index was being kept under control,'' he said. -- PTI
