SHIMLA: The Chairman of Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam, H. K. Sharma, presented a cheque for Rs 39.86 crore as the State's share of dividend in the 1500-MW Nathpa Jhakri project to Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh here on Monday. The Corporation has reported a total turnover of Rs. 1391.78 crores during 2005-06 and declared an all-time high net profit of Rs. 498.22 crores and announced a dividend of Rs. 159.42 crores of which Himachal Pradesh has got Rs. 39.86 crores. The Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam Project had started generation in October 2003 and the Nathpa Jhakri Power Project was the first project in the State commissioned as a joint venture in which the State had a 25 per cent equity participation. The project has generated over 15,000 million units of electricity since the commencement of generation. Himachal Pradesh is one of the main beneficiary States beside eight other neighbouring States. Chief Minister Singh congratulated the SJVN management for looking after the affairs of the Corporation efficiently and professionally, earning record profits besides contributing significantly towards power supply to the Northern States. He thanked the management for the dividend draft of Rs. 39.86 crores for 2005-06.
