HYDERABAD: Governor Rameshwar Thakur on Tuesday said that universities should have good research facilities similar to the technological universities in advanced countries. Speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed building of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department at the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, the Governor said "If we have to fight poverty and become a developed nation, we must equip ourselves with advanced technology." He said a radical change in thinking was required to address technical education to the changing pace of science and technology. "Technology and scientific advancement should be used as an apparatus to help humanity and eradicate poverty. Technology strengthens political, economic and security structure of the nation," the Governor said. JNTU Vice-Chancellor K. Rajagopal said the university had also taken up various works with Rs.85 crores in its other campuses located in Anantapur, Pulivendula in Kadapa and Kakinada to provide better facilities.
