Research project for PG students

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Vidyasagar Institute of Biomedical Technology and Science(VIBS), a unit of the Medical Research Foundation at Sankara Nethralaya, is organising a research project for postgraduate students in human genetics, molecular biology and medical microbiology.

Three or four students are chosen in each of the fields and the duration of the project will be from December to April 2007.

Established by Iravatham Mahadevan in memory of his son, the institute conducts a number of educational and research activities. Since 1998, nine batches of students have passed out, and most of the students pursued higher studies leading to Ph.D. programmes in their specialities in various universities and countries. At present, 10 candidates are pursuing the Ph.D. degree, a release issued by the institute said.
