HUBLI: Ramzan (Id-ul-Fitr) will be celebrated in Dharwad and Haveri districts on Wednesday, while it was celebrated on Tuesday in Gadag district. Jabbarkhan Honnalli, former Minister and secretary Anjuman-e-Islam said the Anjuman took a decision to not celebrate the festival on Tuesday as the moon was not sighted on Monday. It would now be celebrated on Wednesday. In view of the mass prayer on Wednesday, the Hubli-Dharwad Police have made security arrangements. This time the security would be beefed up especially around the Idgah Maidan near Kittur Channamma Circle, as the question of who should read namaz on the day of Ramzan has led to differences within the Muslim community. A section of the Muslim community has taken exception to Anjuaman's decision to invite Syed Basha Peera to read namaz on the festival day.
