CHITTOOR : A cheating case will be booked against officers working in the housing department if they resort to malpractice in the implementation of the programme District Collector S.S. Rawath has said at a review meeting held here on Monday night. He has instructed the officers to grant permission to the beneficiaries for purchase of steel to their houses as per their desire. He warned officers of penalty if found to be taking bribes. Bills were to be paid to the beneficiaries who have completed the construction up to basement level within 15 days, for houses taken up under the employment guarantee scheme. The houses taken up under Indiramma pathakam were also to be completed soon. He threatened to take action against officers found to be lagging behind in it. The officers working in Gudipalli and Kuppam mandals were to be a role model for others in the implementation of the programme, the Collector said. DWMA Project Director Murali has also warned of action against officers who delayed payment of bills for housing works.
