108 service saves 1,350 lives

ANANTAPUR: The 108 emergency ambulance service has become popular within three months of its launch in the district.

District coordinator of Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI), which runs the 108 service, T.V. Durga Prasad, told newspersons here on Tuesday that they had attended to 902 emergency cases of accidents and pregnant cases till October 7, 100 days of launch of the service in the district.

Till October 24 they had attended to 1,100 emergency cases and saved the lives of about 1,350 persons.

They had also helped 300 women in labour pains reach the hospitals for delivery.
