SilkAir touches milestone

Thiruvananthapuram : SilkAir flight MI 498 on October 17 marked the regional carrier's milestone 1,000th flight to Thiruvananthapuram International Airport since it commenced twice weekly services to the State capital on June 2, 1999.

SilkAir operates four flights weekly to Thiruvananthapuram, every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. A spokesman of the airline said it would introduce a fifth service every Monday from December 18.

The airline also operates five times weekly services between Kochi and Singapore. It has plans to commence daily flight from October 30. SilkAir is the only airline connecting Kerala to the rest of the world via direct flights to its hub in Singapore.
