We have credible evidence: Manmohan

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday said India had "credible evidence" of Pakistan's involvement in the July 11 Mumbai serial train blasts.

"All I can say is we have credible evidence," Dr. Singh said in response to a question on the conflicting statements by National Security Adviser M.K. Narayanan and Union Home Secretary V.K. Duggal.

He was speaking to presspersons at the Rashtrapati Bhavan after the new Ministers were sworn in.

On the proposed joint mechanism with Pakistan to fight terror, he described the move as a "trial" and experiment India had to make. "We are not going to war with Pakistan."

Clemency plea

On the appeal for clemency made by the family of Afzal Guru, sentenced to death in the Parliament attack case, Dr. Singh said the legal process was on and the due process of law had to be followed.
