HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has criticised the Telugu Desam Party for `unnecessarily' finding fault with the Government about the mobilisation advances extended to the irrigation contractors "as it was a normal practice followed by Governments." APCC spokesperson N. Tulasi Reddy in a press release said it was unfortunate that the TDP, which did the same was now trying to create a controversy about the mobilisation advancesfor taking up irrigation projects.
Slash in advances
He said it was Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy who slashed the mobilisation advances to five per cent from 10 per cent given during the TDP regime. He reminded the TDP leaders that during their rule, mobilisation advances were given for taking up Jurala power plant, Devadula lift irrigation scheme, Sunkesula barrage and Alaganuru balancing reservoir works. Mr. Tulasi Reddy said it was ridiculous that the TDP was levelling false allegations against the Congress Government when Dr. Reddy could secure permissions for 75 projects as against 17 during the Telugu Desam tenure.
