T. V. Rajeswar Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Governor T. V. Rajeswar has sought a report from the State Government on a complaint by a Congress leader from Barabanki alleging harassment by district officials after he petitioned the Election Commission against Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan for not disclosing the details of the land owned by her husband Amitabh Bachchan. Amir Haider had filed a petition with the EC alleging that ruling Samajwadi party leader Jaya Bachhan had not disclosed the details of landed property owned by her husband in her declaration before the Commission. A delegation of Congress leaders had on Monday met the Governor and alleged that Mr. Haider was being harassed ``as he had dared'' to petition the Commission. They alleged that the district supply office had cancelled Mr. Haider's petrol pump licence without giving him any notice a few days back. The Governor has sought a report from Chief Secretary N. C. Bajpai, sources said here on Tuesday. A public interest litigation had also been filed in the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court alleging that Amitabh Bachchan had been allotted in violation of rules. PTI
