ADILABAD: The Two Town police on Tuesday sent for remand Akhtar Hussain, Sajid Khan and Habib Khan for defiling graves in the Idgah grounds in the wee hours of Tuesday while spreading gravel as part of arrangements being made for Ramzan prayers. There was a clash between two groups on the issue while Andhra Jyothi photographer Sanjiv Reddy was beaten up by members of one group.
Police version
According to Two Town Sub Inspector P. Sambaiah, the three accused were spreading gravel and in the process allegedly damaged some graves. The family members of the dead persons to whom the graves belong reached the spot. This resulted in a clash between them and the contractors. A rasta roko was also staged on the NH 7, beside which the Idgah is situated. Meanwhile, mediapersons descended on the spot to cover the incident. On seeing pictures being taken by photographers, members of one of clashing group beat up Mr. Reddy. The policemen who had reached the spot defused the situation by taking the accused into custody.
