BANGALORE: Another edition of Classmate Young Author is round the corner with an additional feature: this year it comes with a contest for young artists too. To be called Classmate Young Author and Artist Contest 2006, the event will be held in 34 cities. According to a press release, the stories will be judged on the basis of relevance of topic, originality of idea, style and grammar, storyline and the reader impact. The painting will be evaluated on the basis of relevance of the topic, originality, creativity, use of colour and overall presentation. They are open for children from classes 5 to 12. Eminent writer Ruskin Bond continues to be the head of the national jury of the author contest. Top 16 stories will be published.
Goodies on offer
The topper will be awarded a seven-day literary trip to Paris while other finalists will get prizes such as home PCs, camcorders, digital cameras, etc. The top 40 paintings from all over the country will feature in a travelling exhibition to be held in select cities. The release said "special classmate day" would be held in select schools in different cities, including a few in Bangalore. They include Bishop Cotton Boys School, Baldwin Girls School, St. Josephs Boys School, Shiksha Sagar School, DPS North School and Florence High School.
