HYDERABAD: Governor Rameshwar Thakur and Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy greeted Mulims on the occasion of Id-ul-Fitr that marks the culmination of the month-long fasting during Ramzan. In a message, Mr. Thakur said Ramzan was a reminder to people of the purpose of life as intended by God and that it was possible to appreciate and pursue it through rigorous self-discipline. `On this Ramzan day let us redeem our pledge to respect the dignity of man, the sanctity of life and the solemnity of all faiths,' he said. In his message, Dr. Reddy said the Holy month signified man's willpower to attain self-control over his mind and body. It stood as a symbol of universal love, selfless service and spiritual maturity in the mainstream of life. He hoped the festival would strengthen the bonds of love, compassion and mutual understanding among the people and bring new cheer and prosperity in their lives. The Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu, said Hindus should celebrate Ramzan just as the Muslims did in the case of Diwali to promote communal amity. K. Chandrasekhar Rao, president, Telangana Rashtra Samiti, also greeted the Muslim.
