Power shutdown

CHENNAI : Power supply will be suspended in parts of Triplicane on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for maintenance.

Office shifted

Metro Water Depot No. 139 will now function from 383, Anna Salai, Saidapet from Wednesday. Earlier it functioned from Guindy sewage pumping station in Thomas Nagar at Little Mount. Metro water tax, charges and complaints pertaining to depot No. 139 may be made at the new office. The new phone number is 24357252.

Revised train timings

With effect from Wednesday train Nos. TLB/BTL3, Tirumalpur to Chennai beach fast locals will be speeded up, eliminating stops between Chengalpattu and Tambaram. The following local trains will now run on revised timings as given below: BC5 Beach-Chengalpattu will leave Chennai Beach at 5.06 p.m.; S135 Beach to Tambaram will leave Chennai Beach at 5.18 p.m.; S137 Beach to Tambaram will leave Chennai Beach at 5.25 p.m.; BC7 Beach to Chengalpattu will leave Chennai Beach at 5.33 p.m.; S139 Beach to Tambaram will leave Chennai Beach at 5.40 p.m.; S 128 Tambaram-Beach will leave Tambaram at 4.32 p.m.; S130 Tambaram-Beach will leave Tambaram at 4.40 p.m.

The revised timings of Express train No. 6116 running from Puducherry to Chennai Egmore is as follows: Chengalpattu arrival/departure: 7.56 a.m./7.58 a.m.; Tambaram: arr./dep. 8.36 a.m./8.35 a.m.; Chennai Egmore arrival: 9.15 a.m.

Management techniques

The Indo-Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry has launched a new programme on Japanese management techniques. V. Rajagopalan, alumnus of Madras Institute of Technology, will deliver the first lecture on `Japanese Management Practices: an Overview' on October 31 at the Chamber on K.B. Dasan Road, Teynampet.

Detoxification camp

Wisdom Medical Research Foundation will hold a free detoxification camp for alcoholics and drug addicts from Wednesday for six days. The Foundation has introduced 24-hour helplines for alcohol, drug addiction-related problems. They are: 98400-17602 or 9381176200 or 9444050068or 24964919. The organisation also offers a round-the-clock on-call patient pick up service.

Career counselling

Academy for Career and Vocational Education and Training has launched a free career counselling on the importance of career assessment.
