GUNTUR: North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation Limited has organised an exhibition of bamboo, wood, mat and water reed craft material at Bommidala Kalyanamandapam on Ring Road in Vidyanagar in Guntur. Guntur Mayor Kanna Nagaraju inaugurated the exhibition and went round the stalls.
Show-pieces
Textiles with unique designs of the North East and jewellery were on display. Mr. Nagaraju also interacted with a few craftsmen, who were making show-pieces out of bamboo and wood. Exhibition manager S.K. Pujari said it was a Government of India undertaking aiming at promoting the rich heritage of North-Eastern skills in moulding a variety of material like silk, bamboo, cane and metals into beautiful pieces of collectibles. The exhibition would be on till November 5 and live demonstrations given by artisans at the venue.
