Machilipatnam: Joint Collector S. Suresh Kumar said on Tuesday that the third phase of land distribution programme in Krishna district would witness distribution of a total of 2,023 acres of land among 1,973 eligible beneficiaries on the State Formation Day on November 1. Addressing a press conference, Mr. Suresh Kumar said that 3,498 acres of land in first phase and 4,593 acres of land in second phase had so far been distributed. Land was purchased from farmers by paying Rs. 37 crores while another Rs. 20 crores would have to be paid to remaining farmers. In all, 29,854 land possession certificates had been given.
Indiramma scheme
About Indiramma scheme, Mr. Suresh Kumar said that 1,07,263 houses were sanctioned to the poor and weaker sections in the district and sand was being supplied free of cost to the beneficiaries for construction of houses. He said that the district administration was able to convince commercial banks to give a loan of Rs.10,000 to each beneficiary under the programme.
Ration cards
The Joint Collector said that 8,10,249 ration cards were issuedand there was no scarcity of cooking gas in the district. Cases were booked against black-marketers of kerosene.
