HYDERABAD: Controversy erupted over the death of an accident victim Rajasekhar, 27, who died while undergoing treatment for a fractured leg at Yashoda hospital in Secunderabad on Monday night. The patient's family members and the Bharatiya Janata Party activists demonstrated in front of the hospital on Tuesday alleging that he died due to negligence of the doctor. The demonstrators led by former corporator Krishna urged the hospital management to pay Rs. 5 lakhs as compensation to the patient's family. But the hospital authorities refused to oblige pointing out that the doctors spared no effort in trying to save the patient's life. Rajasekhar who was driving a scooter was knocked down by a Qualis in Chaderghat on Saturday breaking his right leg. He was shifted to Yashoda hospital in Secundeabad. On Monday night, Rajasekhar developed complications and died of cardiac arrest. The Market police said they received a complaint from the victim's brother accusing the doctor of negligence and referred it to Chaderghat police who would probe the charges against the doctor as well as that of vehicle driver.
