BANGALORE: Gold and silver articles worth Rs. 1.32 lakh went missing following a fire in a house in Chikkamarenahalli in Sanjay Nagar police station limits on Monday evening. According to police, Prabhuswamy, the owner of the house, had gone to work in a clubhouse on New BEL Road. His wife had gone to pick up their son from school. While she was returning, she got a call from her neighbour about smoke emanating from the house. She rushed to the house and opened the lock of the front door but could not open it. With the help of neighbours she managed to open the door. When she went inside she found that several household articles, including chairs and mattress were burnt. She also found gold and silver articles missing from a safe. Police suspect that some people have stolen the articles and set the remaining ones on fire.
Man robbed
Four persons threatened Venkataraju, a BMTC driver, and made away with Rs. 1,500 and a mobile phone on R.V. Road in Kengeri police station limits on Monday night. According to police, Venkataraju was walking towards his house when two persons approached him and enquiring about a boy. Before Venkataraju could reply, two others joined them and held him tight, while the first two threatened him with a knife and robbed him of the cash and mobile phone.
Chain snatching
Two women were robbed of their gold chains in different incident reported on Monday night. Two motorcycle borne men robbed D. Vijaya of a gold chain worth Rs. 40,000 when she was walking down Railway Parallel road. Saraswatamma was robbed of her gold chain worth Rs. 10,000 when she was returning from a temple in Girinagar. Two persons snatched the chain and ran away, police said.
