Supplyco begins daily price review

Staff Reporter

Selling goods 10 per cent cheaper

KOCHI: The Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation (Supplyco) has begun a daily review of prices of essential commodities as part of fulfilling its role as an intervening force in the market to control prices.

As part of these efforts, Supplyco is already selling products and produces at least 10 per cent cheaper while medicine prices are lower by 10 to 30 per cent, said a release here on Tuesday.

Storage facilities

Supplyco is also equipped to prevent black marketing and has sufficient storage facilities at the taluk level, the release added. It said the prices of commodities at Supplyco stores will be uniform for a whole month and the prices are published in all the major dailies on the first of every month.

e-tenders

Supplyco procures its supplies through e-tenders twice a month. The Corporation is also in the process of entering into long-term contracts with public sector undertakings in the States of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, the release added. The Corporation will be buying green gram from the Maharashtra State Agriculture Marketing Board soon.
