Ticket-checking drive

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As many as 580 cases of ticketless/irregular travellers were detected during the two-day special ticket checking drive at Thiruvananthapuram Central railway division from October 18. A release from the Railway said a sum of Rs.2.4 lakh was levied towards fare and penalty during the drive led by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager K. Manoj. — Staff Reporter

March to be taken out

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The NGO Janapaksham will organise a protest march to the Secretariat on Wednesday to press for the setting up of a mother port at Vizhinjam. The organisation's activists will take out a march holding a 400-metre banner, a press note here said. — Staff Reporter
