Outlets to market Kudumbasree products

Thiruvananthapuram: The district panchayat will set up a network of marketing outlets for products manufactured by Kudumbasree units.

Presiding over a meeting of the panchayat here on Friday, president Anavoor Nagappan said two Kudumbasree supermarkets would be opened at the district panchayat office, Pattom, and Kallambalam.

As many as 40 mini-supermarkets would be opened in the next phase, he told the meeting.

Mr. Nagappan said the standing committee on education had been asked to examine whether the Internet facilities at high schools were being utilised.

The meeting decided to issue notice to the conveners who had failed to initiate public works after receiving advance.

The district panchayat would construct a new building as a memorial to the 50th anniversary celebrations of the formation of the State, said Mr. Nagappan.

The new building would be located on the office premises at Pattom. The project is estimated to cost Rs.65 lakh, he added.

Mr. Nagappan said the proposed complex would be designed to accommodate the office of the District Planning Committee and the departments handed over by the Government.

Minister for Local Self-Government Paloli Mohammed Kutty would lay the stone for the building on November 9.
