This Day That Age
The President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, will inaugurate the new State of Mysore on November 1 at a function to be held at the Central College pavilion in Bangalore. The President will arrive in Bangalore by plane from Trivandrum at 12-30 p.m. and will be received at the airport by the Governor and the Chief Minister. The swearing-in of the Governor and the Chief Minister will take place earlier in the morning. The function to mark the inauguration of the new State will begin at 3-05 p.m. Later, the President will attend a cultural programme at the Town Hall. The birth of the new State will be celebrated in all the district headquarters. A sum of Rs.500 for each of the 19 districts, which go to make up the new State, has been sanctioned to meet the expenses in this connection. November 2 will be a public holiday throughout the new State of Mysore.
