KOCHI: The Durbar Hall Art Centre is playing host to the final year BFA (Painting) students of the Government R.L.V. College, Thripunithura who have put up a display of their works. There are around 30 works on show.

Fourteen students have participated in the show. They include Ananthan K.T., Alphonse Panakal, Davis V.J., Domson Joseph, Jalajamol P.S., Martin O.J., Orion, Shibu Pathur, Sithara Rajesh, Sreekumar N., Stanly P.C, Suhail Raj, Suja Suryanarayanan and Vipin N.C.

The works are fine illustrations for the levels of competence these students, who have spent a couple of years in an art institution, have reached. Attempts to express lofty thoughts are evident in the works.

The students have arranged for a series of lectures and discussions every evening as part of the show. And the lectures and discussions aptly provide a `right background' to the works on display. The opening day's talk was on `Art and cultural history,' delivered by Sunil P. Elayidam. The second day's talk was on the `Anthropological structure of Michelangelo's sculptures,' presented by Cleteus Kathirparambil, a priest. Sidharthan, of the R.L.V.College, gave a talk on `Art, education and society' on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, P.V. Nandan, Shaju Nellayi and Asanthan were engaged in a deliberation on art and artists.

Jyothilal T.G. will talk on the `Contemporary painting and sculpture and the society of Kerala' on Thursday.

The show will wind up on Friday, with a music event presented by the students of R.L.V. College.

Interestingly, the show is titled `For Sale,' with the letters written as mirror images.
